Power outlet strips provide temporary power outlets for additional electrical devices. A power outlet strip is composed of a number of power outlets (often called 'receptacles') mounted onto a single board, typically the mounting board is plastic. These receptacles are then connected to a single source of power, which can be a wall outlet, surge protector, Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) or other power source. Power outlet strips also have a switch for turning the power off and on, as well as overcurrent protection devices and/or surge protection devices. Sending power out via multiple power outlets makes it convenient to connect multiple electronic devices and appliances to one power source.
